 tee1up rating 6/10 .
Dunwood golf club is located just on the outskirts of Romsey and the New Forest although not a very long par 70 parkland course it has a number changes of elevation which will test anyone’s stamina. The clubhouse is rather old but the facilities are adequate but the pro shop lacked the popular makes of products. Service staff and members were very friendly towards us and the food served was excellent.
The course starts off with a gentle up hill par four with trees down both sides and out of bounds on the right, this is followed by difficult dogleg par five second which has a very narrow tee shot. The next 147 yard par three is the first of six par threes on the card. There are several other nice holes on the front nine but it becomes more interesting as you come on to the back nine which has splendid views over the valley and beyond. The twelve is a very testing par three at 200 yards you are overlooking the valley and the green below which seems very small from the tee.  This is followed by a couple of holes you can let rip with your driver but both have hidden dangers is you should miss the fairway. There is also a lake along side the 15th which is only 330 yards long and you will find you ball heading towards it as if it was magnetised. The course finishes with a couple of easy holes to pick up some points and ends with a lovely par three from an elevated tee towards the green by the clubhouse.
