tee1up golf weekend 2004

Day 3 Saturday another 36 holes Medal at Lanhydrock Golf Club www.lanhydrock-golf.co.uk which is about an hour and a half away from Bude and not the easiest club to find needless to say we arrived with about 5 minutes to spare before the tee time. There was not time to sort out teams and we managed to get in a right mess with the ordering of the buggies however we all got off without upsetting the locals. You certainly need buggies on this course some of he gradual climbs and the distance between tees makes the £26 spent worth every penny. The course is superbly laid out and there are some outstanding holes but unfortunately on the day we played it the greens were not in top condition. We all did are best to keep the course in good condition for the members repairing divots and pitch marks and even Andy Clark did a little landscape gardening with the help of some doc leafs (pictures below) you can see the smile on his face showing how happy he was with his work on the seventh. The morning round was won by Gavin Hall with 36 points increasing his lead at the half way point followed by Andy Webber and Colin Giles on 29 points. The round in the afternoon would be drawn in the evening for playing partners for the Better ball competition and I was lucky enough to draw Gavin and we massed a further 45 points each, next came Andy Webber and Stewart Rennie on 41 points with Neil and Jason on 37 points.
Day 4 Sunday start the journey home stopping for 18 holes at Oake Manor www.oakemanor.com and another hot day by the time we reach the club at 11am. After five round the scores were very close with Gavin in the lead with 189 followed by Colin on 175, Andy on 170 and myself on 167. Oake Manor is one of the nicest courses I have played it has plenty of interest with water every were but above all it lets you play golf. Andy Webber certainly loved the course he scored 46 points with a near level par back nine second was Colin Giles and third was Andy Clark with 36 points. We all met up outside on the terrace for a drink and the results of the weekend with the money collected the prize fund stood at £170 first prize being £80.
