- Last played by tee1up summer 2003 fantastic links course
with a brand new club house tee1up rating 9/10 warning if its
sunny take plenty of water it gets very hot out there!!!
- We have played Hayling on a couple of occasions and it is
always a favorite of the society and I have also played the
course in club matches. The course is a fantastic links course
with undulating fairways, natural hazards and large sand traps,
its also a real test of golf with the winds that change on a whim
from the beech. The opening hole is a deceptive par three which
could play anything from a 5 iron to a driver depending on the
wind I can honestly say I have yet to hit the green with my tee
shot, when you finally get to the green you will find difficult
putting. Hole two is a good par five around 480 yards and with
the wind in your face it will take you three good shot to get
there, beware of the bunkers on the right of your tee shot and
if you play to far left you'll find deep gorse. The third hole is
a little easier there is a marker about 200 yards showing you
the middle of the fairway I would hit right of it and as long as
you can, this should leave a nice easy shot iron into a very
tricky green. Hole four is another straight forward par four
just keep it straight at the marker leaving you with a short
shot for your next Hole five is another par three with a very
narrow green and a pot bunker on the left it always plays an
extra club than it looks. Number six is great par four with a
bit of everything you need a very long straight drive on this
one if you want any chance of hitting the green in two. If you
hit a good one then you will be left with around 180 yards to
the green which is protected by a ditch running from 70yards out
on the left to the 30 yards from the green on the right. The
seventh is a cracking par five you have to stay right on this
one only problem is the bunker right on your drive. Your next
shot is past a high mound and a pill box on the left to a green
on a up hill slope and to top the hole the green is a nightmare.
Hole eight named crater your tee shot is to a small patch of
fairway just before two very large mounds either side of the
fairway which leave a blind shot into an open green. Hole nine
is a long drivers dream keep the ball to the left of the marker
and let rip but watch the bunker which is hidden and about 24o
off the tee your next is a difficult shot into the green. Hole
ten is only 250 yards and drivable if you keep to the right of
the green once on the green you will find loads of mounds and
burrows making putting very difficult. Hole eleven is a lovely
par three and you play across from a raised tee to a raised
green and straight into the wind of the beech. The twelve is a
straight forward par 4 however the wind off the beech from your
left makes the tee shot difficult. Hole thirteen you play toward
the fairway which is on top of the hill your next shot is over
the other side and down towards the road and a bungalow on the
left, anything right and you will be down the hill on the right
in deep rough. The fourteenth is a long par five and you will
need three good hits here watch out for the water hazard and the
two bunkers on the left. The fifteenth tee is played over a
water g4hazard straight at a marker over the bushes. If you
reach the road across the fairway you should only have a seven
iron onto the green. Hole sixteen is a tough par three with a
small green if you hit you will be very lucky. Hole seventeen is
a nice par four only problem is the lake on the left and a small
bunker which is about 200 yards off the tee. There are a number
of bunkers in the middle of the fairway which are well shot of
the green which put you off your choice of club. Eighteenth is a
lovely finishing hole a par four which invites birdies.
